(AP) A Chelmsford woman was killed in a fiery crash Monday afternoon on Route 495, state police said. Gail Sayers was traveling northbound between the Lowell Connector and Woburn Street in a Buick sedan when she was involved in a crash with a tractor-trailer just before 2 p.m., Trooper Lou Torname said. Torname, who was one of the first rescuers on scene, said several attempts were made to put out the fire. Sayers was pulled from the wreck and rushed to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. The truck driver was not injured. Two lanes of the highway were shut down after the crash, which is under investigation. Torname said several passing motorists helped police as they tried to put out the flames. ^ (Copyright 2003 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) im pretty speechless at this point. i feel sick. this is making me consider things ive never considered before. its just a reminder that you never know what can happen next. seconds change one's destiny forever. im beyond saddened. she was one of the greatest women i ever knew. she would never take anything from our family and would go on the line for us whenever need. i can't put into words how great she was and im not going to try. she was a living angel...and now she is looking upon us all. i bet she's saying "dont fuss over me" or something of the sort. i must get back to work now. i love you gail!!! love, emilyxxx |
